Sir Ian McKellen on Road to Recovery After Fall

Sir Ian McKellen is eager to get back on stage after an unfortunate fall put him in hospital last night, Monday 17 June.

The 85-year-old actor was playing “John Falstaff” in “Player Kings”, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play “Henry IV”, at the Noël Coward Theatre in London, England, when he lost his footing during a fight scene.

Crew members reportedly rushed to help after the beloved thespian cried out in pain. Thankfully, two doctors were in the audience at the time and were able to assist McKellen.

The “Lord of the Rings” star was later rushed to a nearby hospital, where the medical staff examined him to ensure that he would not suffer any long-lasting damage.

A spokesperson for the theatre has announced that tonight’s performance will be cancelled “so Ian can rest” but assured that he would be back on stage again tomorrow.

McKellen has received an outpouring of support from audience members, his fellow cast, and long-time fans who expressed concern about his well-being.

In a statement released to an international publication, the actor’s representatives thanked the “audience and the general public for their well wishes,” before adding that “he will make a speedy and full recovery”.
